KnowledgeHut UpGrad, UpGrad’s online technology company, is reportedly planning to acquire several smaller EdTech companies that focus on developing skills and expertise. Founded in 2011, KnowledgeHut UpGrad focuses on providing short online courses that help employees acquire and improve new skills in service or career fields. Reports indicate that Knowledgeahad takes care of two or three companies in the Edek service area. Targeted companies include a UX training company worth over Rs 5 crore.
Based in Bangalore, KnowledgeHut currently has students from over 70 countries worldwide and plans to expand its presence by completing these acquisitions in the next two to three months. Subramaniam Reddy, founder and CEO of KnowledgeUpgrade, told the media that he plans to invest and buy shares in companies that specialize in a particular industry.
The acquired company’s ability to integrate with knowledge upgrade platforms will also be a very important factor in the acquisition process. Within a year of the acquisition, KnowledgeHut’s annual revenue quadrupled to $40 million. According to KnowledgeHut CEO UpGrad, it aims to reach an annual revenue of $150 million by the end of the current fiscal year.
The institute currently focuses on offering courses in Agile Methodology, Artificial Intelligence, Finance, Project Management, Software Testing, Big Data, Cloud Computing and IT Service Management. Data developers, preview developers, rear developers, AI engineers and boot camps are available. Organizations that offer courses and educational services in other specialized fields are also in the field of view of KnowledgeHut UpGrad.
Subramaniam Reddy told the New Indian Express that he plans to reach the $150 million target this year by focusing on launching new courses and trainings. According to him, the winter investment and liquidity will continue for several more months in the Indian startup ecosystem and only companies that focus on sustainable growth can thrive in this changing economic environment.
He added that with the development of technology and the labor market, more graduates will be attracted by employers. This scenario increases the need for upskilling of newly employed graduates, and KnowledgeHut plans to capitalize on this opportunity.
