Samsung Electronics Co ( 005930.KS ) said on Friday it had a cybersecurity incident in late July that exposed the personal information of some customers in the United States. According to Samsung, customers’ social security numbers and credit card numbers were not hacked, but information such as names, contact and demographic information, dates of birth and product registration information were compromised.

It was unclear at the time how many consumers were affected. Samsung did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
